[SPDMM 2023] South Pacific Defence Ministers’ Meeting

From 4th to 6th December, France hosted the South Pacific Defence Ministers’ Meeting in Noumea (New Caledonia). Created in 2013 following an Australian initiative, it is the only ministerial-level defence and security forum in the South Pacific. This dialogue and exchange platform fosters the co-ordination of actions against security threats in the area.

The 8th Regional South Pacific Defence Ministers’ Summit, chaired by Sébastien Lecornu, ended with the signature of a Statement of Intent. The seven Member States have committed themselves to reinforce their co-operation and their co-ordination around four major stakes. Explanations.
