PROGRAMME 144
| The DAS is responsible for the budgetary program 144 " Environment and Prospective of the Defence Policy " and for the coherence of the human and financial resources necessary for the strategic function " Knowledge and Anticipation ". |
INDEPENDENT STRATEGIC THINKING
| The DAS supports the independent strategic thinking, in particular when led by French and foreign academic research institutes. It contributes to the quality of an external expertise on international defense-related questions. |
FIGHT AGAINST PROLIFERATION AND DISARMAMENT
| The DAS prepares, in contact with the Joint Staff of the Armed Forces and the General Delegation for Armament, the defense positions relative to the double problem of the disarmament, both nuclear and non-nuclear, and the fight against the proliferation. It participates in the negotiations of treaties, conventions and the regimes of non-proliferation. |
ARM CONTROL TRANSFERT
| The DAS coordinates the participation of the ministry in the interministerial process of Arm Transert Control and proposes to the Minister the defense-related positions on cases studied during the CIEEMG. It prepares with the Foreign Office the international negotiations in this domain. |
FORESIGHT ANALYSIS
| The DAS leads and coordinates the forward-looking reflections driven by the ministry to put in perspective and anticipate the threats, to establish a typology of conflicts which can militarily involve France and to strengthen the strategic decision-making support. |
INTERNATIONAL CRISIS
| The DAS proposes the political and strategic analyses to strengthen the appreciation and anticipation of situations. |
INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS
| The DAS is responsible for proposing to the Minister the French positions on defense-related affairs. The director in charge of the strategic affairs is the representative of France in meetings gathering European or Atlantic defense political directors. |
